The NordSync Forum in Mo i Rana gathered professional performers and leaders of volunteer cultural organisations from across the region for two days of inspiring presentations, workshops, and discussions.

The conference created a vibrant meeting place where ideas flowed freely — leading to several promising new collaborations and future projects that cross both genres and borders between professional and amateur cultural life.

We believe this direction of our work is essential. It not only broadens our reach and brings new audiences to our concerts but also introduces sustainable approaches to concert production and cultural entrepreneurship in regions facing the challenges of low population density.

Moreover, the collaboration between professionals and volunteers has proven to be a strong source of inspiration and a true spark for creativity.

We are excited to continue developing this field and to unfold its great potential in the seasons ahead.

This autumn, professional artists, producers, and leaders of volunteer cultural organizations from across the Barents region gather for the NordSync Forum 2025, exploring “Collaboration between professionals and amateurs – for cultural outreach, audience development, and recruitment.”

The two-day program features lectures, workshops, project presentations, and concerts, focusing on how cooperation between artists and volunteers can strengthen local cultural life and inspire new forms of participation.

We’re inviting composers to complete Gustav Mahler’s unfinished piano quartet!
The work currently consists of one completed movement and a second by Schnittke – now we invite YOU to write the third.

Prize: Performance at concerts in Fredrikstad, Moss, and Halden (Norway)

We’re excited to invite artists, cultural workers and volunteers to NordSync Forum #3 – an international seminar for performing artists and cultural organizations!

This year’s theme:
Collaboration between voluntary cultural organizations and professional artists.
Together we’ll explore new ways of working across borders, sharing ideas, and creating bridges between professionals, amateurs, and communities in the North.

Our next concert in Sarpsborg, Norway! This time, our AI artist will co-create with the Østfold String Quartet and pianist Eirik Haug Stømner. Together, they will bring a fresh perspective to Schumann’s Piano Quintet.

This is how NordSync’s latest production was described in RanaBlad, a local newspaper, in connection with the tour the NordSync Ensemble had in Nordland in June 2025 with the program “Kunst i bevegelse” (“Art in Motion”). The tour included five concerts across Norway and Sweden, with enthusiastic audiences and excellent feedback. We are looking forward to our next interdisciplinary collaboration!

“Kunst I bevegelse” or “Art in Motion” is an innovative musical performance where classical music merges with new technology and visual art. The production is presented by NordSync Ensemble – a young, interdisciplinary string trio with musicians from Norway and Sweden: Stepan Frolov (violin), Emma Alrikson (viola), and Iida-Alina Poijärvi (cello). The project is the result of a collaboration between KammeRana, a district musicians group from Mo i Rana, and the NordSync Project.

The repertoire consists of romantic and impressionistic works from the classical music treasure trove, performed with high artistic quality and personal expression. The visual element is created using cutting-edge AI-based technology and evolves in real time in interaction with the music. The result is a performance where sound and image blend together, creating a unique dramaturgy for each concert.

NordSync Project – a growing network for musicians, artists, and cultural producers across the Nordic and Baltic regions.

At NordSync, our mission is to bring performing arts closer to society by creating new, interdisciplinary productions that combine music with visual art, film, dance, digital expression, and more. We believe in artistic collaboration across borders, genres, and generations – and we’re here to build the structures that make that possible.

In addition to producing and presenting new work, NordSync also plays an educational role. Through masterclasses, workshops, and public forums, we aim to spread knowledge, share practical tools, and encourage open dialogue about the process of making interdisciplinary art. Our events create a space for artists to learn from one another and develop new approaches to collaboration.

Our ambitions are both local and international:
We support artists in Northern and rural areas while building strong links across the Nordic region. We host forums, seminars, and performances that foster dialogue, spark ideas, and encourage experimentation.
