NordSync Lab #6 – NordLys will take place in Tromsø on 1–2 February 2027.
For our next Lab, we are moving further north and exploring how a traditional setting such as the church can be filled with a completely new sound world.
New sounds in a traditional setting
The new production will bring together organ, violin and electronics, combining the sound and traditions of classical instruments with contemporary musical expression.
At the centre of the artistic idea is the sound of language – how words, voices and different languages can become musical material and influence the way we hear and experience music.
The production continues NordSync’s Perception concept, which explores how music can be experienced and understood through different senses and forms of perception – this time, through words and language.
Artistic work and youth activities
Alongside the development of the new production, NordSync Lab #6 will include artistic workshops, a seminar and masterclasses for young musicians.
The Lab will bring professional artists into dialogue with young musicians and local cultural environments in Tromsø, creating space for both artistic experimentation and knowledge exchange.
