In connection with Nordlysfestivalen
The next NordSync Lab takes place in Tromsø in February 2027, in connection with Nordlysfestivalen.
Under the theme NordLys, the Lab will explore the northern lights as a natural phenomenon, a symbol of the North and a source of artistic inspiration. During three intensive days, professional artists, young participants and local cultural environments will meet to develop a new interdisciplinary production combining music, visual art, language and contemporary technology.
The programme will include musical workshops and ensemble work, improvisation, artistic exploration of northern stories and landscapes, and interdisciplinary work with light, image, language and movement. Workshops and activities for young participants will form an important part of the Lab, alongside professional exchange between visiting artists and local cultural actors.
A new location for the NordSync model
NordSync Lab #6 will also mark an important geographical step for the project.
After extensive activity along the Blå Vegen axis in Nordland, Västerbotten and Finland, the Tromsø Lab will explore how the NordSync model can work in another part of the Norwegian Barents region.
Nordlysfestivalen provides a particularly relevant setting for this development, bringing together professional artists, young performers, local cultural environments, amateur musicians and audiences within the same festival context.
The Lab will therefore function both as an artistic production laboratory and as a pilot for the transferability of the NordSync model – creating new connections in Tromsø while testing how experiences developed through previous NordSync Forums and Labs can be adapted to new communities and partnerships.
The working period will conclude with a public artistic presentation/concert developed through the Lab.
