NordSync presents Nordisk Suite in Fredrikstad in an intimate professional chamber-music version featuring Østfold Strykekvartett and Duo Nøkkelfele.

The new work by composer Bodvar Drotninghaug Moe explores the meeting between Norwegian and Swedish folk traditions and the classical concert tradition. Two folk instruments stand at the centre of the composition: the Norwegian Hardanger fiddle and the Swedish nyckelharpa.

The soloists are Sunniva Herland Monstad, Hardanger fiddle, and Hsiang-Yin Hsiao, nyckelharpa. Together they form Duo Nøkkelfele, an ensemble built around the musical encounter between these two closely related yet distinct Nordic traditions.

The Fredrikstad concert presents the professional core of the production: the quartet and the two soloists in direct musical dialogue.

Nordisk Suite grew out of NordSync’s work with cross-border artistic cooperation and was developed through NordSync Lab, where new material is tested in collaboration between composers and performers. The production demonstrates NordSync’s interest in music that moves between genres and traditions rather than remaining within one established musical field.

NordSync Project is a network for musicians and other performing artists in the Nordic-Baltic region. We particularly emphasize collaborative musical productions that integrate with various genres of performing arts.
