“Lost in the Stars” comes to Østfold

A tribute to Radka Toneff

In the period 28 February – 2 March 2026, NordSync Project, in collaboration with Østfold Musikkforening, presented Lost in the Stars – en hyllest til Radka Toneff in Østfold.

The concerts in Sarpsborg and Rakkestad brought audiences closer to the music and artistic legacy of one of Norway’s most distinctive and influential vocal artists.

A new perspective on Toneff’s music

Lost in the Stars offered a fresh artistic interpretation of Radka Toneff’s repertoire. Her most iconic songs were presented in newly written arrangements by composer Bodvar Moe, reimagined for soprano and string quartet.

The production created an intimate chamber music setting where jazz expression met the clarity and depth of the classical string quartet tradition. The arrangements preserved the vulnerability and emotional core of Toneff’s music, while expanding it into a rich and nuanced sonic landscape.

Performers

The project featured soprano Darya Katyba, whose lyrical sensitivity and expressive presence brought new dimensions to Toneff’s poetic universe.

She was joined by Østfold Strykekvartett, consisting of:

– Stepan Frolov – violin
– Maria Dahl – violin
– Helle Tennøe Andersen – viola
– Liv Frengstad – cello

Together, the ensemble combined strong regional roots with extensive artistic experience, contributing to a refined and cohesive musical interpretation.

A meaningful collaboration

The concert tour demonstrated how collaboration between professional musicians and local organisers can create high-quality artistic experiences in the region.

Through this production, audiences in Østfold were invited into a close and personal musical space, where Toneff’s legacy was honoured while being reinterpreted for a new context.

Thank you

Thank you to Østfold Musikkforening for the collaboration, and to everyone who attended the concerts in Sarpsborg and Rakkestad.
