Lost in the Stars – A Tribute to Radka Toneff

In November 2025, NordSync Project proudly presented Lost in the Stars – a tribute to Radka Toneff, an interdisciplinary production developed through NordSync Lab #2. The production toured Nordland with three concerts — in Mosjøen (21 November)Sandnessjøen (22 November), and Mo i Rana (23 November) — and was met with warm audiences and glowing reviews from Helgelands Blad and Rana Blad.

The project was a collaboration between NordSync ProjectKammeRana, and Vefsn-Ensemblet, and brought together an exceptional team of musicians:
Darya Katyba – soprano (KammeRana)
Etleva K. Brandth – violin (Vefsn-Ensemble)
Stepan Frolov – violin (Nordavind Ensemble)
Iida-Alina Poijärvi – cello (KammeRana)
Bence Tóth – viola (LTU Orkesterakademiet, Sweden)

The production was mentored and arranged by Bodvar Drotninghaug Moe, one of Nordland’s most renowned composers. It reimagined Radka Toneff’s timeless songs through the lens of chamber music, blending jazz expression with classical soundscapes and subtle theatrical elements.

 Radka Toneff (1952–1982)

remains one of Norway’s most beloved jazz singers. Her unique voice, emotional depth, and her legendary album Fairytales continue to inspire generations of musicians and listeners worldwide.

Seminar for Young Talents

Alongside the tour, NordSync organised a seminar for young talents from across Nordland, held in Mosjøen on 21 November. The seminar was arranged in collaboration with Rødøy Orkesterforening and Vefsn Kulturskole, giving young string players and vocalists the opportunity to learn from the professional musicians involved in the production.

Through workshops, rehearsals, and informal exchanges, participants experienced first-hand how interdisciplinary and cross-genre collaboration can enrich their own artistic development.

💫 Lost in the Stars marks yet another milestone in NordSync’s mission to bridge artistic disciplines and regions — connecting professionals, students, and volunteers across Northern Norway and beyond.
