The NordSync Project emerged in direct continuation of the interdisciplinary production Lyden av Livets Dans in 2022. This collaborative performance combined live music, dance, and video art, and brought together artists from across the Nordic region. The success and reception of this production sparked the idea of developing a long-term, structured platform for artistic collaboration—one that could support interdisciplinary exploration, artistic learning, and international exchange. This impulse became the foundation for the NordSync concept.

In 2023, the idea was formalized through a series of strategic conversations between core partners in Norway, Sweden, and Finland. Drawing on experiences from earlier cooperation projects such as Rainbow Strings, the team envisioned a new network with broader ambitions: to support artists working at the intersection of music and other art forms, and to strengthen cultural collaboration in the Nordic and Baltic regions.

The first physical gathering took place in Mo i Rana, Norway, in 2024. This five-day seminar, the first NordSync Forum, brought together network participants for concerts, presentations, open workshops, and discussions. It served as a testing ground for the project’s collaborative model and helped define key working methods and thematic directions for the network moving forward.

In 2025, the second NordSync Forum was held in Lycksele, Sweden, and focused on the development and presentation of interdisciplinary productions created as a result of the network. Artists presented work that integrated elements of visual art, digital media, and dance into musical performance, showcasing how NordSync contributes to artistic innovation across the region.

Today, the NordSync Project functions as a learning platform for performing artists in the Nordic and Baltic regions. It serves as a center for competence development, knowledge-sharing, and professional networking. In addition, NordSync acts as a facilitator for the creation of international, interdisciplinary projects and aims to become a sustainable structure for long-term collaboration in the arts.

NordSync Project is a network for musicians and other performing artists in the Nordic-Baltic region. We particularly emphasize collaborative musical productions that integrate with various genres of performing arts.
